As of January 10, 2024, customers (foreigners and Japanese temporary returnees) who wish to purchase tax-free items in cash (including cash equivalents such as gift certificates) and general goods worth more than JPY 500,000 including tax per transaction at certain brands will be required to present their passport for identification purposes.
